From the UK and US you are usually given a visa on arrival valid for 90 days.
Check with your country before you travel as this is subject to change.
If you want to stay longer, you will need to apply for Temporary Residency.

The temporary residency permit (Admision Temporaria) is valid for two years, after which time you can apply for permanent residency (10 years).

1. Original Birth Certificate with apostille from your home country
2. Criminal record certificate from your country (apostilled)
3. Marriage certificate or divorce settlement, if applicable) with apostille

PARAGUAYAN I.D. CARD
A Cedula is the Paraguayan Identity Card. If you are moving to Paraguay, you need a cedula to open a bank account, buy a car etc.
Once you have your Residency card, apply for a Cedula at Identificaciones.

If you need to extend your stay or are moving to Paraguay, you can apply for residency.
With good Spanish and patience it is possible to apply for residency permit & Cedula at Migraciones in the centre of Asuncion.
However it can make sense to use an agent who knows the process and resolve any issues.
